The French President is deeply saddened to announce the death of 13 French soldiers in Mali in the evening of Monday 25 November 2019, when their two helicopters crashed during a combat operation against jihadists.
Across the globe, we are resolutely committed to fighting all forms of violence against women and girls. At a time when gender equality was declared a major cause of the President’s term of office, we are pursuing our work to defend it in international organisations and taking concrete action to stop this scourge in the world.
With nearly 500 establishments in 137 countries and 350,000 pupils from kindergarten to secondary school, France has the biggest network of schools abroad of any country.
The Paris Peace Forum is continuing, against a difficult backdrop for multilateralism, to mobilize and bring together all stakeholders to confront the challenges of the organization of the world. It works as an incubator to drive projects and launch new initiatives.
Food insecurity currently affects 1 in 9 people worldwide. To put an end to this inequality and provide suitable nutrition for the world’s population, it is essential to transform our agricultural and food systems.
With its partners, France is fully committed to this transformation. France’s International Strategy for Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture (2019-2024) is its new roadmap.
US$14.02 billion pledged to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (9-10 October 2019, Lyon)
Every three years, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria holds a conference to replenish its financial resources. At this event, all public and private sector donors announce their financial pledges. Guests also include the Global Fund’s partners and civil society, both of which are involved in mobilization efforts and programme implementation in their countries. Donations are used to directly finance programmes to prevent and fight these three major pandemics, which kill approximately 2.5 million people every year.

The plan for developing French education abroad has four main thrusts:
Making teaching and education options more attractive;
Developing the current network and supporting the creation of new schools;
Getting families more involved in school life;
Supporting the network in working for diplomacy more effectively.
