ASEAN and the Europeans: Facing up to the Challenges of Climate Change [fr]

To support and facilitate the dynamics of negotiations to reach a global agreement at the end of 2015 COP21, the French Regional Delegation for cooperation with ASEAN in partnership with Asia Centre, the Embassy of France Vietnam and the ASEAN Secretariat, organized a round table on "ASEAN and the Europeans: Facing up to the Challenges of Climate Change " in Hanoi November 12, 2014.This roundtable brought together representatives members of the ASEAN countries, European partners (UK, GIZ, BTC, AFD ...) and international institutions (UNDP).

By crossing approaches, both strategic, environmental, economic, legal, political and social to explore the common and differentiated in the Europe-ASEAN cooperation climate responsibilities, this round table could pave the way for an open discussion with Asian partners on the issue of the respective practices to the learning experience mobilization (separately in each country) to understand and assess the positions and present and predictable behavior of the countries concerned on this aspect of the climate issue but also to identify potential areas of cooperation between Europe and ASEAN.

Bringing researchers approach (presentation of the New Climate Economy) and concrete examples of projects in the region (AFD mitigation projects in Vietnam) that opened in the afternoon at a public roundtable Vietnamese helped to sensitize the public to the challenges of Climate 2015 Paris conference.

Experts from ASIA Centre, in partnership with the Francophone University Agency (AUF), were also involved in two high schools in Hanoi in an awareness of young people.
